Award-winning Illustrator Joyce Mihran Turley
has owned and operated Dixon Cove Design as the sole illustrator/designer for nearly 20 years. Specializing in book illustration since 1997, she enjoys working with small press and independent publishers in the Rocky Mountain region and beyond!
While earning her B.S. in Mathematics at Case Western Reserve University, Joyce studied painting and life drawing at the Cleveland Institute of Art. She continued her art studies at Colorado State University, establishing her illustration and design studio in the 1980s.

Joyce has lived in the foothills of the Rockies, west of Fort Collins, Colorado for over 25 years. Her studio permits convenient observation of deer, coyotes, lizards, eagles and hawks - just outside her picture windows! Joyce's love of nature is reflected in much of her artwork. She shares her home with her husband Rick, and the last of their three children - she's quickly adjusting to the emptying nest!

Joyce is active with PUBWEST (Publisher's Association of the West) as a regular exhibitor at the annual National Book Industry Trade Show. Recent shows have been held at Lake Tahoe, Austin, TX and Portland, OR.
|
She is a member of SCBWI (Society of Childrens' Book Writers and Illustrators) as well as layout artist for Kite Tales, their regional newsletter.
|
Joyce has also exhibited at the CIPACollege in Denver, hosted by CIPA (Colorado Independant Publishers Association).

Joyce has won awards and recognition for her illustrations of ospreys and loons. Specializing in presenting images of nature in a painterly style, Joyce also provides line art, diagrams, and full-color paintings for books on topics ranging from medical to self-help and business subjects, to poetry and fiction.
